(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Basketball Team broke a four-game losing streak with a come-from-behind 63-56 nonconference victory Saturday night at the Mountie gymnasium.

Tied at the half, 31-31, the Mounties outscored Hartnell by seven points in the second half and improved to 4-8 overall in nonconference action.

Leading the way for the Mounties were guards Darrell Williams (3 3-pointers, 6 rebounds) and Corey Grant (8 of 10 FT, 5 Assists, 4 Steals) with 15 and 12 points respectively.

Adding nine points each was 6-9 forward Minfeke Sanoe (4 of 7 FGM, 6 rebounds) and guard Marc Howard, Jr.(2 of 4 3pt, 3 of 4 FT, 2 steals, 2 blks.).

"It feels good to get a win and not walking in the locker room upset and down," Howard, Jr. said.

"We've had some very winnable games lately and (Saturday) we figured out how to win.

"We just need to follow through and figure out how to stay together at the end and not let certain momentum changes bring us down."

Howard, Jr. had been running the offense lately, but with the return of Grant from an early-season injury last week, it has freed him up for scoring with Grant at the point guard position.

The offense has come around lately with its biggest scoring output in a 113-107 loss against El Camino last week.

Guard Evan Council (4 rebounds, 2 of 4 FT) scored nine points and Bryce Knox, who recently returned to the lineup from injury, came off the bench scoring six points.

"It's good to get a win, finally," Mt. SAC Men's Basketball coach Clark Maloney said. "We've been in most of the games, but we have a new and young team.

"We've had a lot of road games (7 of the 12 games) and when you're a young team one of the biggest things is learning how to win on the road."

After a home game this Thursday Dec. 14 against San Bernardino Valley College, the Mounties hit the road and wrap up 2017 at the Compton College Tartar Classic, Dec. 18-20.
