(Walnut, CA) The Mt. SAC Men trailed visiting Palomar College early in the first half, but made a late run to close within six at the half. That would be as close as they could get in the second half for a 78-63 loss to visiting Palomar College Wednesday night.

The Mounties were led by guard Marc Howard Jr (2-2 FT, 4 reb, 6 Asst.) leading the way with 14. Guard Evan Council (2-2 FT) had 11, while guard Josiah Yarde (4-5 FG, 2-4 FT, 5 reb) came off the bench for 10 points.

Darrell Williams hit three, 3-pointers for 9 points and forward Minfeke Sanoe had a game-high 9 rebounds and 8 points.

The Mounties started out in a 10-0 hole in the first half, but outscored the Comets, 20-10 and the tied the game 20-20 on the first of three long-range baskets by Howard Jr. with 3:30 left.

The Mounties took their first lead of the game 23-22 on a driving layup by Council with 2:23 left in the opening half, but Palomar went on a 7-0 run to end the half for a 29-23 lead.

In the second half, Council scored for Mt. SAC on a layup with 13:40 left in the game to trail by five, 42-37.

That would be the closest the Mounties would get the rest of the way as Palomar scored two three-pointers midway through the game for an 11-point lead, 55-44.

Mt. SAC travels to El Camino on Friday and returns home for a nonconference home game this Saturday against Hartnell. Game time is 5:00 p.m.
