Walnut, Calif. – That makes two sweeps in a row for Mt. SAC Baseball! The Mounties locked in another series win with a close 3-2 victory over Pasadena City College on Saturday, April 4 at Mazmanian Field. After two high-scoring games earlier in the week, this one flipped the script with just five total runs. With the win, Mt. SAC keeps the momentum rolling, improving to 17-15 overall and 14-4 in South Coast Conference play, while Pasadena drops to 15-15 and 8-7.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
This one was all about patience and a late push.
Pasadena struck first, using timely hits in the fifth and seventh innings from Isaac Ton to take a 2-0 lead and put the pressure on the Mounties.
In the bottom of the seventh, Andrew Alva got the comeback started with a clutch single that brought Tyler Primanto home and cut the deficit in half. The energy shifted—and the Mounties kept it going.
An inning later, Froilan Serna came through with a game-tying RBI single to even things up at 2-2. Moments after, Frankie Brazil delivered the biggest hit of the day, lining a single that drove in the go-ahead run and gave Mt. SAC the win.
On the mound, Brenden Menchaca gave a solid start, working five innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out four to keep Mt. SAC within striking distance.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties stay home to open another three-game conference series against the Compton Coyotes on Tuesday, April 7. First pitch is set for 2:00 PM at Mazmanian Field. Keep it rolling, Mounties!
