Norwalk, Calif. – In their highest scoring game of the season, the Mt. SAC Baseball Team pulled off a huge 18-3 win in a conference matchup to take the series against Cerritos College on Saturday, March 14. With the victory, Mt. SAC moves to 11–13 overall while Cerritos falls to 12–11. Both teams now sit tied in the South Coast Conference standings at 8–4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Mounties exploded for 18 runs as Jackson Giacone got the ball rolling when he brought home Brock Foulds on a bunt in the top of the first. Soon after, Tyler Primanto lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Ryan Castro, giving the Mounties a quick 2–0 lead.

The momentum kept rolling in the second when Hudson Karczynski singled to right field to bring in Luca Lombardi.

Mt. SAC really opened things up in the third. A wild pitch allowed Primanto to cross the plate, and back-to-back singles from Chip Mertz and Foulds drove in Lombardi and AC Nieto, stretching the lead.

The offensive onslaught continued in the fourth as Primanto launched a two-run homer and a Cerritos fielding error later in the inning allowed Lombardi to score again, pushing the Mounties ahead 11–0.

Primanto came through again in the fifth, delivering an RBI single up the middle to score Giacone. Mertz followed with a bases-loaded walk, and a fielder's choice for Foulds brought in Mario Cuadros, extending the lead to 14–0.

Cerritos finally broke through in the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer from Hudson Comer, but Mt. SAC answered right back. Cuadros knocked in a run with a single in the sixth, and Nieto added another on a pop fly to make it 16–1.

The Falcons added two runs in the seventh, but the Mounties had the final say. A groundout by Moses Trejo allowed Frankie Brazil to score, and Lombardi capped the day with an RBI single that brought home Justin Peinado for Mt. SAC's 18th and final run.

Brenden Menchaca delivered a strong start for the Mounties, pitching six innings while allowing five hits and just one earned run. He struck out five and kept the Falcons at bay throughout his outing. The bullpen finished the job, with Noah Tanphanich, Jack Rudometkin and Cash Carroll each tossing an inning to keep the game in the Mounties' favor.
