Walnut, Calif. – In their 2026 home opener, the Mounties responded with a comeback 11-6 win over Mt. San Jacinto on Tuesday, January 27, with both teams now holding a 1-2 record.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It looked like it was going to be another rough one for the boys in maroon and white as the Eagles took a 3-0 lead after two innings off singles from Steven Felipe and Will Siqueiros.

But Mt. SAC flipped the script in the third inning with a five-run explosion to take control of the game. Mario Cuadros got the Mounties on the board with an RBI hit that scored Moses Trejo. Nick Mejia followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home Brock Foulds, and an Andrew Alva double allowed Cuadros to score.

The inning continued to snowball as Jackson Giacone and Froilan Serna each delivered RBI singles, driving in Alva and Chip Mertz and swinging momentum firmly in the Mounties' favor.

Mt. SAC added to the lead in the sixth inning, tacking on three more runs behind RBI hits from Cuadros and Alva, along with a double from Mertz to make it 8–3.

The Eagles added a run in the top of the seventh following a Mountie pitching error, but Mt. SAC answered right back in the bottom half of the inning. The Mounties pushed across three more runs as Foulds and Cuadros helped keep the offense rolling, extending their total to 11.

Mt. San Jacinto managed two runs in the top of the ninth on singles from Ryan Rangel and Dayton Thompson, but it wasn't enough to close the gap as the Mounties closed out the 11–6 victory.

On the mound, Tomas Bilvado delivered a strong performance, earning his first collegiate win after tossing five innings, allowing five hits and three runs (one earned), while walking two and striking out four. Cash Carroll was solid in relief, throwing two innings with three strikeouts. Seth Sumner and Juan Verduzco each pitched an inning to finish off the game.
