Walnut, Calif. -- Mt. SAC Baseball standout Izeah Muniz has officially been drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 13th round, pick 377, of the 2025 MLB Draft. The right-handed pitcher made a name for himself during the 2024-2025 season with the Mounties, leading the 3C2A with 126 strikeouts over 108 innings. He finished the season with a dominant 13-1 record, a 1.92 ERA, and averaged 10.5 strikeouts per game.

Although primarily a starting pitcher, Muniz etched his name in Mt. SAC history by closing out the final inning of the 3C2A State Championship game—earning the save and securing the college's first state title in 60 years.

His incredible season earned him numerous honors, including selections to the Southern California All-Region First Team, the ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association All-American First Team, and being named Regional Pitcher of the Year.

A native of Baldwin Park, California, Muniz attended Bishop Amat Memorial High School in La Puente, where he played four years of varsity baseball for the Lancers. He wrapped up his high school career with a 1.66 ERA and 139 strikeouts in 139 innings.

Mt. SAC Head Coach John Knott shared his reaction to the news:
"We are excited for Izeah being drafted by the Rockies. This doesn't happen often at our level, and it's something worth celebrating. He'll now have the opportunity to either sign or play Division I baseball—goals he's worked hard to reach. His season was one we'll never forget: a conference title, a state championship, State Pitcher of the Year honors, throwing the final pitch in the championship game, and now being selected by the Rockies. It's been a wonderful story with so many special memories from his time here. We're proud of Izeah and confident he'll do well in the next chapter of his career."

Congratulations, Izeah, and best of luck as you take the next step in your baseball journey — your Mt. SAC family is cheering you on every step of the way!
