Walnut, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Baseball Team is one win away from making history. After a commanding 9-3 semifinal victory over the West Valley Vikings on Sunday, the Mounties (44-6) have punched their ticket to the 3C2A State Championship Final.
In the double-elimination format, West Valley earned a rematch opportunity by defeating Cypress College 16-4 in the following game, setting the stage for a high-stakes final showdown between the Mounties and Vikings (40-12).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Landon White continued his MVP-caliber season by launching his sixth home run of the year in the first inning—a two-run shot that drove in Bryan Bradshaw. A single by Cole Nachreiner and a pair of Viking errors allowed Diego Ortiz to cross the plate, giving the Mounties a quick 3-0 lead.
Ty Thomas added RBI doubles in both the second and fourth innings—each time bringing in Bradshaw. Then Ortiz delivered in the fourth, hitting a two-RBI single to score Thomas and Tyler Stull, stretching the lead to 7-0.
West Valley got on the board in the fifth, plating two runs off a Colin Spear single and a bases-loaded walk. But Joey Peralta took over for Hudson Castillo with two outs in the fifth and shut things down the rest of the way to earn the win.
The Mounties added on a few insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth when Stull delivered a two-RBI single, scoring Noah Rodriguez and Terrell Jackson Jr., pushing the score to 9-2. The Vikings made one final push, adding a late run in the top of the eighth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the powerhouse that is the Mt. SAC Baseball Team.
The Mt. SAC Mounties and West Valley Vikings will once again battle it out – this time in the 2025 3C2A State Championship Final. With everything on the line, don't miss your chance to witness the action live at Mazmanian Field, Monday at 11:00 AM. Go Mounties!
