Pasadena, Calif. – Continuing their dominant run, the Mt. SAC Baseball Team completed a sweep of Pasadena City College with a 16-4 victory on Saturday, April 19. The Mounties now hold an impressive 32-5 overall record and a dominant 19-2 mark in the South Coast Conference. The Lancers, meanwhile, drop to 19-15 overall and 10-11 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The matchup began with fireworks from both teams. Mt. SAC jumped ahead with two early runs in the top of the first thanks to hits from Tyler Stull and Miguel Perez. Pasadena quickly responded, leveling the score 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning on a triple by Joaquin Salcedo and a single from Devon Eskridge.

From there, it was all Mounties. Bryan Bradshaw tripled in the second to drive in Cole Nachreiner and regain the lead. Mt. SAC continued to chip away each inning—scoring at least one run in every frame. In the third, Stull came home on a passed ball. The fourth saw Ty Thomas score on a wild pitch before Landon White crossed the plate on another RBI single from Stull, making it 6-2.

The offense kept rolling. In the fifth, Jackson Giacone's double brought in Nachreiner. Stull struck again in the sixth with a double to score White. The seventh was the biggest inning, with Noah Rodriguez scoring on a wild pitch and Thomas launching a three-run homer to center field, extending the lead to 13-2.

Pasadena showed a brief spark in the seventh when Bryan Richman came home on a Mt. SAC error. But the Mounties quickly shut the door. Bradshaw delivered an RBI double in the eighth to score Diego Ortiz and added two more in the ninth—Perez crossed the plate on a Lancer miscue, and Nachreiner singled to bring in Ortiz once again.

Richman capped the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the ninth, but it wasn't enough to close the gap for the Lancers.

Brenden Menchaca earned the win for Mt. SAC, going six strong innings while allowing just two earned runs and striking out three. Relievers Matt Viveros and Sam Silversmith sealed the deal, with Silversmith striking out five of the 12 batters he faced.
