Pasadena, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Baseball Team reached a major milestone on Tuesday, April 15, becoming the second squad in the 3C2A to hit 30 wins this season with an 11-1 rout of Pasadena City College. The victory brings the Mounties' overall record to 30-5, while they continue to dominate the South Coast Conference at 17-2. Pasadena, meanwhile, drops to 19-13 overall and 10-9 in SCC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Hot off a three-homer performance on Saturday, Tyler Stull stayed locked in, launching a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, driving in Ty Thomas, to give Mt. SAC an early 2-0 lead.
The Mounties broke things open in the sixth, plating four more runs with key RBI singles from Miguel Perez and Diego Ortiz, extending the lead to 6-0.
Pasadena got on the board in the bottom half of the inning, thanks to a single by Devon Eskridge that brought home Bryan Richman, but that would be the Lancers' only run of the day.
Mt. SAC put the game away for good in the eighth, tacking on five more runs via a Diego Villa double, Bryan Bradshaw single, and a series of Pasadena pitching miscues—including walks and a balk—that sealed the 11-1 final.
On the mound, Izeah Muniz was steady and efficient, tossing eight strong innings, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking out five. Jeremiah Sibrian closed things out. For Pasadena, Isaac Ton went six innings, giving up four earned runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout.
