Mountie Baseball comes up short against East L.A. in Game 2 of SCC series

(Walnut, CA) After downing East Los Angeles College, 6-2, in the opening game of their first South Coast Conference series of the season, host Mt. San Antonio College (9-6, 1-1) dropped Game 2 of the series, 7-6, on Thursday, Feb. 29.

Down 7-3 midway through the sixth, the Mounties scored three in the bottom of the sixth and one in the bottom of the eighth to close the gap, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Huskies' (6-10, 1-4) lead.

Joey Rossetti (4-4, R. 3 RBI, 2B), Joel Gutierrez (2-3. 2 R, 2B), and Nick Mejia (3-5, RBI) spearheaded the Mt. SAC offense, which out-hit ELAC, 13-6, but still came up short.

Starter Kyle Calzadiaz (4.2 IP, 4 H, 4 R. 4 ER, 5 BB, 3 SO) got the loss for the Mounties, dropping his record to 2-1 on the season.

The teams will face each other in Game 3 of the series at ELAC on Saturday, March 2, at noon.
