Glendale hands Mt. SAC Baseball first defeat of the season

(Glendale, CA) Up 4-2 midway through the eighth, Mt. San Antonio College (2-1) gave up three runs in the bottom of the eighth as host Glendale College (2-1) captured a 5-4 non-conference victory on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

Joel Gutierrez (2-3, R, RBI, 2B), Bradyn France (2-4, 2B), and Andrew Ramirez (1-4, R, 2 RBI, HR) were the top hitters for the Mounties. In addition, Gutierrez and Andrew Walters stole a base each on the day.

Starter Matthew Lorenzano pitched 3.2 innings, gave up two runs (both earned), and struck out five for Mt. SAC. However, it was reliever Ray Northey (1-1) who got the loss, throwing 0.2 innings and allowing one earned run, which proved to be the decisive score.

The Mounties will try to get back on the winning track in a home game against San Bernardino Valley College (0-3) on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 5 p.m.
