2022 Baseball Season Filled with Numerous Accomplishments

(Walnut, CA) The 2022 Mt. San Antonio College Baseball Team Campaign has been full of accomplishments, including the team's third consecutive South Coast Conference title and a program-best 32 regular-season victories.

As a team, the Mounties (32-8) ranked No. 1 in the state in a pair of team offensive categories: runs scored (409) and on-base percentage (.446). The team ranked No. 2 in the state in RBIs (360), batting average (.344), and triples (30), and third in hits (505).

Other state team rankings include fifth in slugging percentage (.495), eigth in doubles (99), and tenth in stolen bases (89).  Also of note, eight Mounties tallied 30 or more RBIs.

During the course of the season, Mt. SAC compiled win streaks of 11 (March 5-31) and 10 (April 5-26). As impressive as the team's play has been throughout the season, several individual accolades have also resulted.

Taking top SCC accolades was Michael Flores who was named conference pitcher of the year and Head Coach John Knott, the conference coach of the year.  

First Team All-SCC selections include: Cristian Enriquez (utility), Brent Cota (outfield), Will Bermudez (infield), and Jeffery Isenhart (pitcher).

Nin Burns II (outfield), Art Ruiz (outfield), Blake Borgogno (infield), and Trent Merrill (pitcher) earned Second Team All-SCC honors.

Seeded No. 6 in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Southern California Regional Playoffs, the Mounties will host No. 11 Cypress College (21-19) this weekend.  The first game of the best-of-three series will start Friday, May 6, at 1 pm. Game 2 will be on Saturday, May 7, at 12 pm and if necessary, game 3 will be on Saturday, at 3 pm.

The two teams met earlier this season on February 17th, with Mt. SAC coming away with a 7-1 victory.
