
(Walnut, CA) Following a pair of non-conference wins, Mt. San Antonio College (14-6, 4-3) resumed South Coast Conference play with an 8-5 win over visiting Rio Hondo College (14-8, 5-5) on Tuesday, March 15, in the first of a three-game series.
Starter Michael Flores got the win for the Mounties, improving his record to 6-1 on the season. Flores threw five innings, allowed two runs (one unearned), while striking out six.
Will Bermudez (2-3, 2 R), CJ Ontiveros (2-4, R), Brent Cota (1-3, 2 RBI), and Elijah Pelayo (1-5, R, 2 RBI) helped lead the way offensively for Mt. SAC. Art Ruiz (1-4, R, RBI) and Nin Burns II (1-2, 2 R, RBI) each had a double in the winning effort, while teammate Blake Borgogno (1-2, R) hit a triple. Damien Delgadillo tallied two stolen bases for the Mounties.
The teams will meet in Game 2 of the series on Thursday, March 17, in Whittier at 2:30 p.m.
