Mt. SAC Baseball’s Michael Sandoval and Coach John Knott Earn Top South Coast Conference Honors

(Walnut, CA) The 2019 Mounties Baseball Team (22-17, 14-8) captured two of the top South Coast Conference (SCC) Baseball Honors after going 14-8 to win the its second consecutive SCC North title (Pasadena and the Mounties finished as co-champions).

Mounties 3rd year Head Coach John Knott (40-26, .606 win % conf.) received his second consecutive SCC Coach of the Year honor.

Sophomore Shortstop, Michael Sandoval (.322, 4 dbls., 4 HR, 26 RBI) was named SCC North Division Co-Most Valuable Player. Sandoval was in the top five in multiple categories.

First team honors went to Starting Pitcher Noah Woodall (3-0, 1.99 ERA, 32 K's), Relief Pitcher Steven Ordorica (4-1, 4 saves, 1.61 ERA, 18K's), Infielder Albert Luevano (.376, 2 3B, 13 RBI), Outfielders, Kyle Koontz (.371, 2 3B, 1 HR, 8 RBI .467 OBP) and Caleb Ellis (.329, 4 2B, 1 HR, 11 RBI; 1.000 FPCT in 52 chances)

Second team All- SCC honors went to Designated Hitter Dylan Zavala (.360, 5 2B, 4 3B, 2 HR, 16 RBI, 6 SB, .573 SLUG).

The Mounties head into the playoff 7-3 in the last ten games and are looking to make run at the 2019 CCCAA State Championship.
