With the victory the Mounties have now won five out of their last seven games.
In the best individual game performance by a player in years for the Mounties, Shepherd reached base in all six at bats, which included going 4 for 4 with three-runs scored, two walks and eight RBIs.
Mt. SAC had two big innings, scoring five runs in the first and four in the fifth and pounded out 14 hits and saw ELAC parade nine pitchers to the mound.
Freshman Christian Longoria picked up his second win of the season, striking out five in his six innings and allowed two runs.
Highlighting the first inning was an RBI single by Shepherd, scoring designated hitter Andrew Garcia (1 for 3, 3 runs) and a two-run double by freshman right fielder Brandon Bradshaw (2 for 3, run, 2 RBIs), scoring Shepherd and freshman third baseman Jacob Castillo (2 for 5, 3 runs).
All four runs in the fifth inning came on one swing of the bat by Shepherd with a grand slam to give the Mounties an insurmountable, 12-1, lead.
Freshman shortstop Ryon Knowles also had two hits for the Mounties and scored twice.
Mt. SAC takes a final break from conference action this week with a home-and-home, two-game series beginning Tuesday at Mazmanan Field against neighboring Citrus College.
