Mt. SAC Baseball drops two in a row

(WALNUT, CA) - In the waning days of nonconference action for the Mt. SAC baseball team, the Mounties lost their second game in a row, this time to Fullerton College sophomore Dylan Prohoroff, who limited them to five hits and a run in a 5-1 victory at Mazmanian Field Monday night.

The right-hander, who was clocked in the low 90's, held the Mounties to just a first-inning hit by freshman shortstop Travis Santiago (Charter Oak HS) through four and two thirds of an inning, before freshman third baseman Esteban Ortega (Los Altos HS) singled and two innings later the Mounties added a run.

In the seventh, trailing 5-0, sophomore first baseman Dylan Lowenstein (Chino Hills HS) led off with a single, followed by a double two batters later by Ortega (2 for 3).

Sophomore left fielder Kevin Romo (St. Paul HS) grounded to first for an RBI as Lowenstein scored for the Mounties' only run of the game.

Sophomore left hander Ethan Etchebarren (La Puente HS) suffered his first loss of the season (3-1), but sophomore reliever Erick Potts (Brea Olinda HS) went the final 4.2 innings allowing only two hits.

The Mounties play their final nonconference game tonight at Riverside City College before South Coast action begins next week.

With the loss Mt. SAC is now 7-4, while Fullerton improves to 10-3.
