Walnut, Calif. – On a beautiful, crisp day under sunny skies, the Mt. SAC Women's Beach Volleyball Team delivered an impressive performance earning a 3-2 victory over Cerritos College and a dominant 5-0 sweep over LA Harbor Club. With today's success, their record improves to 9-6.
In their match against Cerritos, Mt. SAC clinched another conference victory with wins from pairs one, three and four. Candace Ceballos and Madeline Castillo showcased their skills, defeating Leeya Rubio and Jose Navarro with set scores of 21-15, 21-17. Eva Fisher and Emma Carson dominated their matchup against Brisa Cortez and Nayeli Salas Ortiz, winning 21-12, 21-8. Meanwhile, Eva Becerra and Mayah Tiscareno secured the decisive win, overcoming Abby Gutierrez and Aiyana Sierra with scores of 21-19, 21-12.
Despite a strong effort, Itzel Aguayo and Freda Lei fell to Monserrat Rodriguez and Rosie Cazares-Gonzalez in the No. 2 pair spot (21-9, 21-16). The No. 5 pair, Kaylin Mendoza and Brooklyn Acevedo, battled through a tough three-set match, taking the first set 21-14 before dropping the next two 21-17, 15-10 to Herlinda Casanova and Juliette Casillas.
The Mounties carried their momentum into their next match against LA Harbor Club, where they dominated across the board. Ceballos and Castillo defeated Jennifer Sandoval and Sinai Martinez (21-14, 21-11), while Aguayo and Lei edged out Lauren Villaneda and Laila Jackson (21-16, 21-18). Fisher and Carson continued their impressive play, taking down Kayla Fierro and Franchesca Mojorovich (21-9, 21-15). This time, Becerra teamed up with Jordyn Romano, defeating Susan Ruiz and Mylah Goods (21-15, 21-17). In the No. 5 spot, Rhiannon Rodriguez and Jeanie Rhodes sealed the sweep with a commanding win over Camila Lopez Contreras and Samantha Hernandez (21-13, 21-5).
