Alex Mascarenas has been named the Interim Head Coach of the 2020 Women's Softball team. Mascarenas began with his coaching career with the Mounties Softball Program in 2016.  Mascarenas is a well known fielding and hitting instructor in the national softball circles.  

Under Coach Mascarenas direction as infield/hitting coach, the Mounties compiled a team batting average of over .400 and produced some of the deadliest offensive hitters in the state.

In 2018, he was honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as the Easton/NFCA California Community Community College Assistant Coach of the Year.  

He currently works as a certified hitting and fielding instructor under legendary 3-time USA Olympian Crystl Bustos and her Ruthless Sports Training Camps.  He is a sought after clinician who has instructed at numerous camps/clinics with several ex-pro and Olympic Athletes.  

Mascarenas played football at UCLA for three seasons before medically retiring due to injury. After graduating from UCLA, Mascarenas attended Santa Ana College where he competed in baseball (two years) as an infielder. 

Mascarenas received his Bachelors Degree in History from UCLA.  His sister Toni was a 3-time softball All-American (3rd base) at the University at Arizona, while his niece Alyssa Palomina, the 2016 USA Softball Junior Athlete of the Year, is currently playing for the Wildcats.
