
Sacramento, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Wrestling Team claimed third place at the 2025 Sacramento City College Women's Open on Saturday, February 8, with a total score of 83.0. Cerritos College captured the top spot with 100 points, while Menlo College edged out the Mounties for second place with 86.0 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Mt. SAC standout Mackenzie Muniz led the team with a first-place finish in the 117 lbs. weight class, defeating Menlo's Rebecca Fletcher by technical fall. Leilani Lazaro secured second place in the 124 lbs. category after a hard-fought matchup against Ajayzee Zaballos. In the 138 lbs. division, Tehya Ledesma finished fourth after falling to Lassen's Alondra Juarez. Alexis Jimenez earned a third-place victory in the 145 lbs. weight class, winning by decision over Cerritos College's Saquoia Dubuque. Rounding out the Mounties' podium finishes, Brianna Macias claimed third place in the 207 lbs. class with a technical fall victory over Paula Aguilar from Sacramento City College.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties will return to action in a conference matchup against Santa Ana College on Wednesday, March 5, at 7:00 PM.
