Mountie Women Water Polo Stay Perfect in the South Coast Conference; Defeat Pasadena City College, 14-7

(Walnut, CA) With four unanswered goals to start the game and a 7-1 lead in the first period, the Mt. SAC Women's Water Polo team cruised to a 14-7 win in the South Coast Conference Wednesday afternoon at the Marie T. Mills Aquatics Center.

With the victory the Mounties remained perfect at 3-0 in conference and improved to 5-2 overall.

Scoring four of those seven first-period goals was sophomore 2-meter Kayla De Herrera and freshman driver Miranda Silva (2 steals) put in three goals in the game.

De Herrera now has 21 goals this season, tied for ninth in the state.

The Mounties had 17 steals in the game with Rebecca Garcia leading the charge with three.

The defense also held the Lancers to just one goal in the second period as Mt. SAC led, 7-2, at the half.

Silva scored two of her three goals in the third period helping the Mounties to a 10-5 lead heading into the final period.

Scoring two goals for the Mounties was freshman driver Reannon Urias.

Next up for the Mounties is the annual Mt. SAC Water Polo Classic this Friday and Saturday.

The classic will have 14 teams playing at three sites over the two days at Mt. SAC, Rio Hondo and Fullerton.

The Mounties will play twice on Friday (11:30 a.m. vs. Fullerton and 4:10 p.m. vs. Santa Barbara City College) and twice on Saturday (9:10 a.m. vs. Cypress and 3:00 p.m. vs. Orange Coast College).
