Los Angeles, Calif. – And just like that, the Mt. San Antonio College Women's Volleyball Team tied a perfect bow on their conference season, sweeping Los Angeles City College 3-0 on Wednesday, November 12. With the win, the Mounties improve to 20-5 overall (.800 winning percentage) and close out conference play undefeated at 8-0. The Cubs, meanwhile, drop to 1-19 overall and 0-8 in the South Coast Conference.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
With the starters enjoying a well-earned night off, Mt. SAC's bench stepped up and showed off the team's incredible depth and skill from top to bottom.
Set 1: Mt. SAC 25, LACC 8
The Mounties opened strong, racking up 13 kills and hitting an impressive .458, while holding the Cubs to a .071 clip on 5 kills. After a point-for-point start, libero Veronica Estrada sparked a serving run that gave Mt. SAC some breathing room at 7-4. From there, the front-row trio of Kacey Worcester, Kayla Staveley, and Brittney Okorie kept the pressure on. But the real standout was Bella Fairley, hammering down 5 kills in the set. And, as fans have come to expect, Eva Fisher's wicked serve sealed the deal—she rattled off 11 straight serves to close out the opening set in dominant fashion.
Set 2: Mt. SAC 25, LACC 8
Same score, same story—pure Mountie dominance. This time, Tatum Hardaway joined the attack with a few kills of her own, while setter Isabella Ross worked her magic both orchestrating the offense and behind the service line, extending the lead to 18-8. Fairley once again stole the spotlight, notching four kills and finishing the set with four straight aces. The Mounties finished with 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage.
Set 3: Mt. SAC 25, LACC 13
The Cubs showed a bit more fight in the third, but the Mounties never wavered. Early kills from Staveley, Worcester, and Hardaway, combined with LACC errors, gave Mt. SAC an early cushion. And in a fitting end to the game, Fairley capped her performance with one final kill – earning the sweep and a perfect conference record.
BY THE NUMBERS:
- Bella Fairley: 13 kills, .500 hitting percentage, 5 service aces, 5 digs
- Isabella Ross: 26 assists, 3 kills, 3 digs
- Kacey Worcester: 5 kills, 3 digs
- Kayla Staveley: 4 kills, 5 digs
