Los Angeles, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Volleyball Team capped off their regular season in dominant fashion with a doubleheader sweep against Los Angeles City College on Wednesday, November 13. The Mounties finished the day undefeated, winning both matches in straight sets and earning a perfect 6-0 for the day. With this victory, the Mounties' record stands at 19-7 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
In the first match, Mt. SAC delivered an impressive performance, winning decisively with set scores of 25-10, 25-7, and 25-11. Itzel Aguayo was a standout, posting three digs, one block, and 11 kills for a .611 hitting percentage. Jordyn Romano contributed seven kills and four blocks, while Candace Ceballos added eight kills for a .500 hitting percentage, along with five digs and one block. Mayah Tiscareno played a key role in the back row with eight digs, and Jeanie Rhodes added six more digs. Setter Eva Becerra orchestrated the offense with 32 assists and six aces.
The Mounties completed their sweep in the second match with scores of 25-20, 25-4, and 25-10. Emma Carson led the attack with 13 kills and a block, while Eva Fisher added nine kills, a .533 hitting percentage, and three blocks. Rhiannon Rodriguez contributed four kills, and Freda Lei led the defense with nine digs. Setters Isabella Ross and Jaylyn Zavala combined for 30 assists to keep the offense running smoothly.
The win comes on the heels of a South Coast Conference showdown, as Long Beach City College, ranked #4 in Southern California, swept #10 Cerritos, resulting in both teams finishing as co-champions of the SCC South Division. In the SCC North, Mt. San Antonio College shared the division title with Pasadena City College, following a 5-set loss to #20 Pasadena on November 6.
The Mounties now turn their attention to the upcoming Southern California Regional Playoffs, beginning Saturday, November 23. Stay tuned for details on their first-round matchup. In addition, Mt. San Antonio College will host the 3C2A Volleyball State Championships this December.
