Mounties Run, Jump and Throw Their Way to Success at Arnie Robinson Invite

San Diego, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field Team delivered a well-rounded performance at the Arnie Robinson Invitational, hosted by San Diego Mesa College on March 20–21. Competing in a meet that brought together top two-year programs, the Mounties showed up ready to run, jump and throw their way to a successful showing midway through the season.  

On the track, Mt. SAC turned in a series of strong runner-up finishes and personal-best efforts. Jody Colbert Jr. led the way in the 100 meters, sprinting to second place in a personal-best 11.97. She also doubled back in the 100-meter hurdles, where she placed third in another personal-best performance (14.85), alongside teammate Nyrah Wyatt, who secured second place with a personal-best 14.51.

In the middle distances, Casey McConn added to the team's momentum with a second-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking a personal-best 2:17.57. The Mounties also saw success in the relay, as the 4x100 team of Soleil Murillo, Enessah Hawkins, Megan Stauffer, and Italia Garrard combined for a second-place finish in a personal-best time of 48.00.

The field events proved to be a strong area for Mt. SAC, highlighted by multiple event titles. Camryn Calderon led a dominant showing in the javelin with a first-place throw of 119'4", while Olivia Powers followed closely in second at 115'8". Illicia Ross claimed the top spot in the high jump, clearing 5'3", and Miku Yanagawa remains unbeatable in the pole vault with a clearance of 11'11.75".

Mt. SAC's presence in the pole vault extended beyond the first-place win, as Emma Samvelian and Samantha Diener each cleared 10'11.75" to finish among the top competitors. Samvelian also contributed in the shot put, placing third with a throw of 38'8.25".

Rounding out the field events, Lindsey Varner secured a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 37'0.25".

The Mounties will return to competition at the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival and the Jim Bush Legends Meet, hosted by UCLA on March 27–28.
