Mt. SAC Women Make Their Mark in Fullerton

Fullerton, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field Team competed against a talented field of collegiate programs at the Ben Brown Invitational, hosted by California State University, Fullerton on March 12–13.

The meet featured a mix of junior college and four-year institutions and gave the Mounties an opportunity to test themselves against strong competition across both track and field events.

In the sprint events, Soleil Murillo represented Mt. SAC in the 100 meters, finishing 14th overall with a time of 12.13 seconds.

The Mounties saw two athletes place in the 400-meter hurdles, led by Nyrah Wyatt, who finished ninth in 1:07.61. Teammate Cameron Reyes followed closely behind, placing 11th with a time of 1:08.13.

Mt. SAC also earned a podium finish in the 4x100-meter relay, where the quartet of Italia Garrard, Enessah Hawkins, Murillo, and Megan Stauffer combined for a third-place finish in 47.69.

The Mounties had several impressive results in the field events, highlighted by Miki Yanagawa, who claimed first place in the pole vault with a clearance of 12' 9.5". Mt. SAC added two more top-10 finishes in the event with Sofia Di Marco placing eighth and Samantha Diener finishing ninth, both clearing 10'4".

In the high jump, Illicia Ross recorded a fourth-place finish, clearing 5'3.25".

Mt. SAC also had multiple competitors place in the long jump, as Hailey Lutz finished 10th with a mark of 17'2.75", followed closely by Lindsey Varner in 11th place at 17'2".

In the triple jump, Alessandra Jefferson earned a sixth-place finish with a mark of 38'2.25".

The Mounties also competed well in throwing events, where Olivia Powers recorded a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 120'0". In the hammer throw, Emma Samvelian placed 14th with a mark of 147'9".
