Claremont, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field Team faced tough competition at the 30th Annual Rossi Relays on Saturday, February 28, going up against mostly four-year schools. The Mounties finished 10th overall among 17 competing teams and unattached athletes, scoring a total of 36 points.
Biola University claimed first place with 76.50 points, followed closely by Cal Poly Pomona at 73.50, and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps rounding out the top three with 64 points.
Mt. SAC had several standout performances. Casey McConn finished eighth in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:08.57. Nyrah Wyatt competed in two hurdle events, taking 10th in the 100-meter hurdles (15.05) and earning second place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.07. Cameron Reyes also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, placing ninth at 1:08.36.
The relays were another strong showing for the Mounties. The 4x100 relay team of Italia Garrard, Enessah Hawkins, Soleil Murillo, and Megan Stauffer finished seventh in 48.44 seconds. The sprint medley relay team — Garrard, Murillo, Stauffer, and Bianca Peralta — captured fourth place with a time of 1:48.07.
In the vertical events, Miku Yanagawa continued her success with a first-place finish in the pole vault at 12' 5.5", while Emma Samvelian cleared 11' 5.75" to finish eighth.
Lindsey Varner placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 36' 6.25". In the throws, Samvelian added a seventh-place finish in the shot put (39' 7.75"), and Olivia Powers placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 117' 10".

Mt. SAC Women's Track & Field heads to the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton from March 12–14. Facing another slate of strong four-year programs, the Mounties will look to continue developing week by week.
