Torrance, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Track and Field Team kicked off the 2026 season at the South Coast Conference Opener on Saturday, February 7, hosted by El Camino College. The Mounties delivered standout performances across the sprints, distance races, relays, and field events, demonstrating the talent and balance of the squad in their first meet of the year.
Mt. SAC made an immediate statement in the sprints, sweeping the top five spots in the 60 meters. Soleil Murillo led the way with a first-place finish in 7.77, followed by Megan Stauffer in second (7.91) and Jody Colbert Jr. in third (7.96). Murillo continued her strong day later in the meet by capturing first place in the 150 meters with a time of 18.81, while Stauffer placed second (18.85) and Enessah Hawkins earned third (19.28).
As expected, the Mounties were just as dominant in the distance events with major contributions from the State Championship Cross Country Team. Sophia Ebiner doubled up with victories in both the 1500 meters (4:52.75) and the 3000 meters (10:30.23). Kaitlyn Reyes finished right behind her teammate in both races, placing second in the 1500 (4:53.40) and the 3000 (10:35.97), while Jasmine Brandyberry rounded out the podium in the 3000 meters with a third-place finish (10:36.77).
In the hurdle events, Pharyn Kelley placed second in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.56, followed closely by Nyrah Wyatt in third (9.65). Wyatt added another impressive performance in the 400 hurdles, finishing second in 1:07.25, while Cameron Reyes placed third at 1:10.43.
Mt. SAC's 4x400 relay team, consisting of Megan Stauffer, Italia Garrard, Enessah Hawkins, and Soleil Murillo, captured first place with a time of 4:04.70.
The Mounties also turned in solid performances in the field events. Hailey Lutz and Kylie Unterkofler placed second and third, respectively, in the high jump, each clearing 4'9.75". In the pole vault, Emma Samvelian earned second place with a mark of 10'11.75", while Sofia Di Marco and Natalia Gaitan tied for third at 10'6".
In the throwing events, Vailele Potesio claimed first place in the shot put with a throw of 33'1". Elizabeth Agopian had a stellar day, finishing second in the discus (108'2") and capturing first place in the hammer throw with a mark of 114'2". Isis Izaguirre placed second in the hammer (107'10"), followed by Olivia Powers in third (97'5"). Powers later added a first-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 117'9", while Camryn Calderon earned second (114'8") and Sascha Obadia placed third (95'11").

With a successful season opener in the books, the Mounties have set the tone moving forward. Mt. SAC will look to carry that momentum into the RCC Early Bird Meet at Riverside City College on Friday, February 13.
