Walnut, Calif. – It came down to the wire — and the Mt. SAC Mounties delivered. In a tightly contested battle from first serve to final point, Mt. SAC edged out the College of the Desert Roadrunners 5-4 on Friday, February 13. The Mounties improve to 2-4 on the season, while Desert slips to 2-2.

With six singles matches, the Mounties knew they needed to take at least half — and that's exactly what they did.

At No. 2 singles, Sichen Chang set the tone with a strong 6-0 opening set before closing out Lindsey Lopez 6-4. Danae Marron battled through a competitive first set at No. 5, pulling out a 7-5 win before sealing the match 6-2. In the No. 6 spot, Marina Soltero added another point for the Mounties via default, giving Mt. SAC three crucial singles victories.

That set the stage for doubles. With the match on the line, Mia Vo and Chang stepped up in the No. 1 doubles spot, defeating Sophia Cordova and Lopez 8-3 in commanding fashion. At No. 3 doubles, Marron and Mireya Moreno were awarded a default victory — the deciding point that secured the 5-4 team win.
