
(Monterey Park, CA) For the third consecutive season, Mt. San Antonio College (14-2-3, 7-0-2) has claimed the South Coast Conference North Division title. The Mounties closed out their regular-season schedule with a 9-2 SCC North win at East Los Angeles College (1-14-1, 0-9) on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Mt. SAC will now prepare to compete as the No. 2 seed in the SCC Tournament, which gets underway on Friday, Nov. 3. SCC South winner Long Beach City College (12-0-5, 7-0-2) is seeded No. 1.
With a first-round bye, the Mounties will host the higher-seeded winner from the No. 3 Pasadena City College (14-2-4, 7-2) - No. 6 Cerritos College (4-11-1, 4-4-1) and No. 4 El Camino College (11-4-2, 6-2-1) - No. 5 Rio Hondo College (8-4-4, 4-3-2) games on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
In Tuesday's contest, the Huskies scored first at the 13:42 mark, then Mt. SAC responded with eight consecutive goals to take a commanding 8-1 lead before ELAC scored its next goal at the 64:44 mark. Jacynda Rueda scored the final goal of the game for the Mounties on an assist from Elena Ochoa at the 79:07 mark.
Natalia Reyes (Veronica Aquino assist, 25:57 mark), Aquino (unassisted, 31:11), Jasmine Delgado (unassisted, 39:45), Kathryn Davis (Alina Valdez assist, 40:23), Valdez (unassisted, 41:09), Kristin Mijares (unassisted, 42:20), Delgado (Zuhayle Diaz assist, 50:08) and Diaz (unassisted, 54:03) accounted for the other Mt. SAC goals.
Goalie Anai Olmedo had one save in 90 minutes for the Mounties.
