Walnut, Calif. – After dominating the SoCal Regional Duals and earning a trip to the 3C2A State Dual Championship, the Mt. SAC Men's Wrestling team powered past Santa Ana College in a conference matchup on Wednesday, October 22, winning 37-15. The Mounties used a mix of technical falls, pins, bonus-point wins, and forfeits to secure the team victory.
The dual opened at 125 lbs., where Manuel Martir set the tone early for Mt. SAC with a 15-0 technical fall over Joseph Garcia in just under five minutes. Santa Ana responded at 133 lbs., as Jair Suchite edged out Davonne Dixon in a tight 4-3 decision, putting Santa Ana on the board.
Mt. SAC then went on a strong run. At 141 lbs., Zain Khan earned a high-scoring 25-10 technical fall against Micah Van Grol, followed by Levi Waller's solid 7-0 decision win over Aaron Lopez at 149 lbs. The Mounties kept the momentum at 157 lbs., where Maxximus Martinez pinned Anthony Marquez in 3:53, giving Mt. SAC a big lead.
The Mounties added more points with a forfeit win at 165 lbs. for Roman Rodriguez. Santa Ana stopped the streak briefly at 174 lbs., where Alexander Pichette pinned Wendell Mitchell in 6:47, cutting slightly into the deficit.
However, Mt. SAC sealed the dual when Roman Loya (184 lbs.) and Cody South (197 lbs.) each picked up forfeit victories to push the lead further. Santa Ana closed the night with Dylan Avila earning a forfeit win at heavyweight, bringing the final score to Mt. SAC 37, Santa Ana 15.
