Solvang, Calif. – The Women's Golf State Championship came to an abrupt and disappointing close when relentless downpours rendered the River Course at Alisal unplayable, cutting the two-day, 36-hole event down to a single soggy round.

Just a week earlier, the Mounties had delivered a stellar performance at the 3C2A SoCal Regionals, finishing second with an impressive two-day total of 647 (327 & 320). But at State, the team battled through the elements to secure a fifth-place finish with a score of 352 after 18 holes. The impact of the weather was unmistakable—25 and 32 strokes higher than their most recent single-day outings.

Conference rival Orange Coast College and Reedley tied atop the leaderboard at 323, with OCC ultimately claiming the state title via a fifth-player card-off. Modesto Junior College finished just one shot behind at 324 in an exceptionally tight race for the podium spots.

Individually, Kaitlyn Wang led the Mounties with a 12th-place finish after posting an 81. She was followed by Kyrie Padero (27th, 86), Leah Garcia (37th, 91), and Abigail Price (44th, 94). Also competing were Lauren Grant-Timassy with a 96 and Evangeline Rodriguez with a 101.

While the team wasn't able to recapture last year's postseason magic, the season still delivered standout moments—including Wang finishing second overall in conference and five Mounties earning spots on the Orange Empire Conference First and Second Teams.
