(Bakersfield, CA) Following a 4-0 season-opening victory over San Mateo College on Friday, Jan. 26, Mt. San Antonio College (3-0) picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, Jan. 27, against Santiago Canyon College, 6-5, and Bakersfield College, 8-0. All games were played at Bakersfield College.

Mt. SAC 6 Santiago Canyon 5

The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead through three innings, but the Mounties battled back to tie the game at 5 in the top of the seventh on a double by Morgan Knubuhler (1-4, R, 2 RBI) that scored Mercedes Alba (2-4, R, 2B). Knubuhler scored what proved to be the decisive run later in the same inning when Amanda Esquivel (3-3, RBI) doubled with one out.

Other top offensive performances for Mt. SAC included Alyssa Rubalcava (2-4, 3B), Janis Espinoza (1-4, R, RBI, 2B), Gabriella Flores (1-4, 2B), and Audrey White (1-3, 2B).

In addition to her offensive output, Rubalcava (1-0) also picked up the win pitching all seven innings while striking out four.

Mt. SAC 8 Bakersfield 0

Mountie starter Dallas Garcia (1-0) put the clamp on the host Renegades by pitching five scoreless innings, while striking out five, to pick up her first win of the season.

Several Mt. SAC batters contributed to the team's offensive output, including Rubalcava (1-1, R, RBI, 2B), White (1-1, R, RBI), Knubuhler (1-2, R), Flores (1-3, R, RBI), Espinoza (0-4, R. 2 RBI), and Allie Kirkpatrick (1-3, R, 2 RBI).

Rianna De La Barcena (1-1, R) also stole two bases for the Mounties while teammates White and Esquivel stole one each.

Mt. SAC travels to Fullerton College (0-0) for a non-conference game on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 3 p.m.
