Mt. SAC finishes season with 6-1 non-conference win over L.A. Mission; Bring on the playoffs!

(Walnut, CA) Another stellar regular season for the Mt. SAC Softball came to an end with a 6-1 win over visiting L.A. Mission in a non-conference game on Thursday (April 27).

With the win, the state No. 3 Mounties improved to 35-5 overall and await the playoffs announcements on the CCCAA website soon.

Freshman pitcher Aleyna Urbina (17-2) finished the regular season with 17 wins, which is seventh in the state. She went the distance, allowing two hits and one run.

Urbina finished tied for seventh in the state with a 1.10 ERA

Sophomores Celeste Cortez (2 for 2, 2 Rs, RBI) and Brianna Goris (2 for 3, R, RBI, Dbl.) led the Mounties with two hits each.

After both teams failed to score through the first four innings, the Mounties took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth and added five more runs in the sixth.

Goris and Ashley Diaz (1 for 3, R, Dbl., RBI) each doubled scoring Emily Barba and Goris for the 3-0 lead.

Cortez, Asia Chacon, and Amaris Guzman each singled in runs to lead, 6-0.

The Eagles broke the shutout in the top of the seventh with a solo home run.

The CCCAA Southern California Regionals are set to begin Friday (May 5), with Mt. SAC hosting.
