On April 15th, in South Coast Conference action, the Mt. SAC Softball team extended their winning streak to 12 games with an 8-0 victory over Pasadena City College. Freshman pitcher Aleyna Urbina (14-2) pitched a complete game, allowing only two singles, striking out nine batters, and giving up three walks.

Mt. SAC assistant coach Erika Eklund praised Urbina's ability to reset after each pitch, which was crucial in securing the win. "It's really important for us to stay within ourselves."

"She (Urbina) did a great job of staying with herself and focusing on each pitch.

"(Saturday) was a good example of how hungry (Mt. SAC) is."

The state No. 3 Mounties improved to 29-5 overall and 18-1 in the conference with this victory.

Freshman third baseman Janis Espinoza led the way for the Mounties with double and two runs scored, while sophomore right fielder Mia Mendoza had two scoring fly balls.  Sophomore left fielder Desiree Bravo had a single, double, and an RBI.

The Mounties took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on Mendoza's sacrifice fly and added three more runs in the third inning with Mendoza's second sacrifice fly, an RBI single by sophomore designated hitter Brianna Goris, and an RBI double by Bravo.

Sophomore first baseman Olivia Ortiz praised the team's collective effort and determination to win, while Urbina credited her defense for their solid play behind her. The Mounties will look to continue their winning streak on April 18th, when they face East Los Angeles College at home.
