On their home course, the Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Team, the 3C2A champions for the past two years and defending titleholders of last year's Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational, once again claimed the top spot at the event. The Mounties completed the four-mile course with a team time of 1:47:11 and a score of 25.
Hartnell College finished second with a score of 64 and a team time of 1:49:05, while El Camino College took third with a team time of 1:51:27 and a score of 98. A total of 150 runners from 21 schools competed in the race.
Freshman Emmanuel Hernandez led the Mounties and the race with an impressive first-place finish, clocking in at 20:50.8. Sophomores Jordan Berkley and Noah Chairez followed closely, finishing 4th and 5th with times of 21:29.9 and 21:32.2, respectively. Joel Fischer and Alex Figueroa secured 7th and 8th place with times of 21:36.9 and 21:40.7. Rounding out the scoring for the Mounties were Bryce Jackson and Michael Ortiz, who finished neck and neck with times of 21:59.1 and 21:59.7.
The Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country Team aims to maintain this momentum as they compete in the South Coast Conference Championships at Heartwell Park in Long Beach on Friday, October 25.
