(Harbor City, CA) The streak continues! For the tenth consecutive year, the Mt. SAC Men's Cross Country team clinched victory at the South Coast Conference Championship, held at Ken Malloy Regional Park in Harbor City on Friday, October 27.

As a team, Mt. SAC finished with an almost perfect score of 18 points, with their top five scoring runners leading the way. A perfect score is 15 points, and in 2021, the Mounties achieved this rare feat at the SCC Championships.

The Mounties nearly dominated the top 14 positions in the 4-Mile race, with only third and 12th place going to El Camino runners. El Camino finished second with 58 points, followed by Cerritos in third with 66 points.

Securing first place for Mt. SAC was freshman Aidan Gomez, who completed the race in 20 minutes and 58.3 seconds, followed closely by his teammate Joel Fischer, who finished second with a time of 21 minutes and 2.6 seconds.

The Mounties claimed positions four through eleven in the eight-team race. Rounding out the top seven finishers were Louis Torres in fourth place (21 minutes and 9.1 seconds), Christian De Loye in fifth (21 minutes and 14.6 seconds), Andrew Villeda in sixth (21 minutes and 16.1 seconds), and Jordan Berkley in seventh (21 minutes and 20.3 seconds).

The Mounties will aim to recapture the 3C2A Southern California Championship on Friday, November 3, at El Dorado East Regional Park in Long Beach. The Mounties, who secured back-to-back titles in 2017-18, have finished as runners-up in the last three competitive seasons to San Diego Mesa.
