(Walnut, CA) The goal-scoring frenzy continues for the Mt. SAC Men's Soccer Team as they shutout Oxnard, 6-0 on Tuesday September 25 in a non-conference game.

Leading the way with two goals each was Giovanny Garcia and Alfonso Lopez. Lopez also had a season-high three assists in the game.

It's also the 11th goal in the last two games for Mt. SAC (6-2-1), which defeated Cuyamaca 5-0 last week. The Mounties are 5-1-1 in their last seven games.

The two goals by Lopez and Garcia vaulted them into the top five of the goal-scoring leader board in the state. They are tied for fourth with eight goals each, two behind the leader with 10. Lopez is tied for second in assists with six in the CCCAA statistical leader category and is second in overall points with 22.

"The team came out with a lot of positive energy," Mt. SAC Men's Soccer coach Juan Sanchez said. "Our defensive pressure generated numerous scoring opportunities, in which we capitalized on for our first two goals.

"The team worked hard and smart for the entire 90 minutes and the end result was a shutout win."

Just one minute into the game Lopez started the scoring with an unassisted goal, followed by a second goal at the 23 minute mark by forward Ivan Escobar (A. Lopez).

A minute later Garcia got into the action with a goal, assisted by Alfonso again for the 3-0 lead at the half.

For the second time in the game the Mounties scored twice in two minutes with goals by Garcia (A. Lopez) and Alfonso (Kraig Bonanken) in the 73rd and 75th minutes, respectively for the 4-0 led.

Forward Gustavo Lopez (Randy De Los Santos) completed the scoring for the Mounties in the 83rd minute for the sixth goal.

Mountie goal keepers Alain Hernandez (2 SV) and John Samano (3 SV) split time in goal with a half each.

South Coast Conference play begins Friday, September 28th with a game at Rio Hondo. Game time is at 6:00 pm
