Head Coach Juan Sanchez named Regional Coach of the Year


(Kansas City, KS) At the Annual National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Convention in Kansas City (MO), Goalkeeper Alfredo Ontiveros (SO, Arroyo H.S.) was named the 2011 Continental Tire Men's Junior College Division III Player of the Year by the NSCAA. With his goal protection, Ontiveros helped lead the Mounties to their second NSCAA National Championship, their 3rd California Community College State Championship and an undefeated record of 22 wins and 3 ties. Ontiveros only allowed 11 goals all season with 103 saves and 11 shutouts.

Along with Ontiveros, defender Eric Flores (SO, Garey H.S.) was named to the 2011 Continental Tire Men's Junior College Division III All-American First Team while Forward Luis Fuentes (SO, Sierra Vista H.S.) was named to the All-American 2nd Team.

Congratulations also goes out to Head Coach Juan Sanchez who was named the West Region Junior College Coach of the Year for the third time.
