Jamul, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Men's Golf Team turned in their strongest performance of the season on Wednesday, April 8, carding an impressive 301 at Steele Canyon Golf Course and narrowly missing a top-three finish.
In a tightly contested field, the Mounties finished fourth—just one stroke behind Cypress and College of the Desert, who tied for second at 300. Cuyamaca College claimed first place with a 295.
Leading the way for Mt. SAC was Aaron Duran, who put together an outstanding round of 72. After a steady front nine, Duran caught fire on the back, sinking four birdies to anchor the Mounties' score.
Right behind him, Hayden Beltran delivered a strong performance of his own, finishing with a 73 to keep Mt. SAC in the mix throughout the day.
Jonathan Melton and James Bergman rounded out the scoring, each posting a 78 to contribute to the team's season-best total.
While Aaron Kusnowo (84) and Cameron Miller (88) also competed, their scores were not counted toward the final team total.
Despite sitting seventh in the Orange Empire Conference standings, the Mounties are showing clear signs of progress. With just two conference tournaments remaining, this performance could be the momentum shift they've been looking for.
