Mountie Men's Golf finish third in Eagle Classic

Mt. SAC Men's Golf finished 3rd at Eagle Classic

(San Jacinto, CA) In the second event of the 2022 season, the Mt. SAC Men's Golf team took to the road and competed in the Eagle Classic at the Soboba Springs Resort in San Jacinto, Wednesday (Feb. 9) and came away with a third-place finish.

The tourney, hosted by Mt. San Jacinto College featured some of the top teams in the state, with Saddleback and Riverside City College tying for first with team scores of 377.

Saddleback, however, won the tiebreaker (best score on the back nine) to finish in first.

Mt. SAC, which followed just four strokes off the pace with a 381, tied with Cypress College. Cypress officially took third on a card-off.

Low medalist went to Jordan Medlock of RCC with a 2-under Par 70.

The Mounties were led by three golfers with a 2-over Par 74 – Felix Tsui, Brandon Winters, and Trevor Ruiz. The trio finished tied for sixth overall.

The three were followed by Ethan Thomas (75), Aaron Fekin (84), and Dakota Gudzunasu (98).

Mt. SAC will continue tournament action next Wednesday (Feb. 16) in the Cuyamaca Classic at Singing Hill Golf Club in El Cajon.

The Mounties will begin Orange Empire Inland Conference matches beginning in early March. Match No. 1 will be at Spring Valley Lake Golf Club in Victorville.
