Mountie Men's Basketball continues to roll with non-conference win over Canyons

(Santa Clarita, CA) Mt. San Antonio College ran its record to 11-1 on the season with an 84-67 non-conference win over host College of the Canyons (6-7) in the second round of the Cougar Holiday Classic on Friday, Dec. 29. The Mounties were also victorious in the first round, defeating Orange Coast College (8-6), 91-85, on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Mt. SAC's sophomore, Nick Hopkins earned the title of the tournament's Most Valuable Player, while Jon McCullough secured a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

In Friday's contest, Mt. SAC's Hopkins led all players with 18 points as teammates Mikah Gardner (13 points), CJ Fisher (12), McCullough (12), and Dante Victor (11) accounted for the team's double-digit scoring.

Michael Ejumeta grabbed a game-high seven rebounds for the Mounties as Gardner tallied five.

Mt. SAC held advantages in several key team categories, including rebounds (33-18), field-goal percentage (.660-.400), and points in the paint (34-28).

Winners of four straight, the Mounties will begin their South Coast Conference schedule with a crossover game at home against Los Angeles Harbor College (2-9) on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 5 p.m.
