(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) Host Chaffey College (8-1) handed Mt. San Antonio College its first loss of the season, a 93-84 non-conference setback in overtime on Saturday, Dec. 2. The loss puts the Mounties at 7-1 overall.
There were 12 ties and six lead changes during the contest in which the Panthers outplayed Mt. SAC in several key team categories, including points off turnovers (30-12), points in the paint (40-38) and bench scoring (24-21). The Mounties held a 43-39 advantage in rebounding.
Nick Hopkins led Mt. SAC with 38 points and 12 rebounds, both game highs, as teammate Elijah Cirilo added 10 points. Jon McCullough and Mikah Gardner added nine and eight points off the bench, respectively.
The Mounties return home to host Irvine Valley College (6-2) in a non-conference game on Friday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m.
