Mt. SAC Men’s Basketball defeats Rio Hondo, 81-77 in SCC action

(Whittier, CA) The Mt. SAC Men's Basketball team secured an 81-77 victory over Rio Hondo College in South Coast Conference action on Friday (February 10) thanks to three players scoring in at least double figures.

Freshman guard Nick Hopkins (5-12 FGM-A, 10-15 FTM-A, 12 RB, Asst., Stl., Blk) led the way with 20 points, followed by Arturo Angeles (8-14 FGM-A, 3-5 3 PM-A, 4 RB, 2 A, 2 Stls.) and Jay Milner (6-14 FGM-A, 4 RB, 2 A) with 19 and 18 points, respectively.

Milner connected on 6 of 9 3-pointers, which was his highest output from beyond the arc this season for the sophomore.

Matthew Brown and Micah Myricks had eight and six points, respectively for the Mounties.

The Mounties won both halves, outscoring the Roadrunners 37-35 in the first and 44-42 in the second.

The Mounties, who did not qualify for the postseason, will conclude their season at L.A. Trade Tech on Wednesday (February 15).
