(Santa Clarita, CA) Host College of the Canyons (8-5) handed Mt. San Antonio College (7-7) a 77-69 defeat in the opening round of the 32nd Cougar Holiday Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 28.

Four of the Mounties' starters scored in double digits: Jay Milner (20 points), Mikah Gardner (15), Arturo Angeles (14), and LJ McClain (11). Dante Victor, Matthew Brown, and Gardner led Mt. SAC with five rebounds each.

The Cougars' Andrew Henderson led all players with 27 points off the bench.

Canyons led by as many as 21 points and dominated the Mounties in several key team categories, including rebounding (38-32), points in the paint (36-26), and bench scoring (43-7).

Mt. SAC will face South Coast Conference rival Los Angeles Trade Tech College (2-12) in the consolation final on Thursday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. The Beavers lost to Orange Coast College, 95-68, in the opening round.
