
(Torrance, CA) Leading by as many as nine points in the second half, Mt. SAC (6-8) wound up coming from behind to capture a 63-61 South Coast Conference crossover win over host El Camino (3-12) on Wednesday night.
Trailing 59-58, Joseph Gonzalez hit a three-pointer with 50 seconds left to play to put the Mounties up, 61-59. El Camino knotted the score at 61 on a pair of free throws with 33 seconds on the clock, but Mt. SAC's Cyree Dunnell responded with a layup at the 0:18 mark to put the visitors up for good, 63-61.
Dunnell led the Mounties with 20 points and Gonzalez finished with 10. Israel Mansker tallied a team-high eight rebounds for Mt. SAC, which snapped a four-game losing streak. Teammates Daniel DeJoya and Akinola Branco added nine points each in the winning effort.
Justin Chambers led the host Warriors with 20 points, missing a contested three-pointer with three seconds left.
Tonight's game involved 10 ties and four lead changes and saw the Mounties earn a 38-35 edge on the boards.
The Mounties return to action on Friday, January 11, by hosting an SCC crossover tilt with L.A. Southwest (5-9) at 6 p.m.
