(Walnut, CA) With the Mt. SAC Baseball team in a five-game slump in mid-March, holding a 13-11 overall record and falling below the .500 mark (5-6) in the South Coast Conference, the Mounties completely turned their season around with 14 wins in the last 16 games. This impressive run to end the regular season propelled Mt. SAC into the top three teams of the conference, culminating in a second-place tie with Long Beach City College, both with identical records (27-13, 16-8).

The final series against El Camino College, in which the Mounties won two of three games, earned them a No. 7 ranking in the California Community College Baseball Coaches Association (CCCBCA). After splitting the first two games of the series, the Mounties clinched a crucial 3-1 win at El Camino, thanks to the stellar pitching of sophomore Matthew Lorenzano. The right-hander secured his eighth win against only two losses, pitching five innings, scattering four hits, and striking out six El Camino batters. Freshman Jaden Mackowiak pitched the final four innings, striking out eight batters and picking up his third save of the season.

The Mounties took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a two-run home run by sophomore right fielder Blake Hagerty (3-4, R, 2 RBIs), scoring sophomore first baseman Gibby Morales. They added another run in the sixth inning for a 3-0 lead, while the Warriors managed to score their lone run in the bottom of the inning.

Mt. SAC now awaits the postseason announcement by the 3C2A.
