Mt. SAC Baseball shuts out Victor Valley, 7-0; Walters, Peralta lead Mounties

(Walnut, CA) Mt. SAC sophomores Andrew Walters (three hits) and pitcher Joey Peralta (5 scoreless innings) led the Mounties to their second consecutive win to start the season, with a nonconference 7-0 shutout win over visiting Victor Valley on Saturday, January 27 at Mazmanian Field.

Walters (3 for 4) had two doubles and an RBI and Peralta picked up his first win of the season pitching five innings, struck out five batters, and scattering five hits.

Four players – Joel Quemada (2-4, 2 RBIs, R), Gibby Morales (2-5, RBI), Diego Ortiz (2-4, R, RBI) and Bryan Bradshaw (2-4, R, RBI, SB) - had two hits each for the Mounties.

The Mounties scored in each of the fourth through eighth innings, which was highlighted by a two-run double by Quemada to give Mt. SAC a 5-0 lead in the sixth.

Mt. SAC travels to Glendale College on Tuesday (Jan. 30) for a nonconference game.
