(Walnut, CA) It's that time of year again, time to play ball! That's what Mt. San Antonio College and Chaffey College (0-1) did to open the 2024 baseball season on Friday, Jan. 26. In this particular matchup, the host Mounties (1-0) came away with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory.

Trailing 3-1 midway through the fourth, Mt. SAC battled back with runs in the fourth and fifth innings to tie the score. The decisive run came in the bottom of the ninth when Terrell Jackson Jr. scored on a two-out, walk-off single by Blake Hagerty (1-4, 2 RBI).

Several Mounties had solid opening-day performances, including Andrew Ramirez (2-3, R), Joey Rossetti (2-4, RBI), Gibby Morales (2-4, R), Bradyn France (1-4, RBI, 3B), and Joel Gutierrez (2-4, 2B).

Ray Northey (1-0) picked up the win for Mt. SAC, pitching one inning of relief. Starter Kyle Calzadiaz threw four innings, allowed three runs (all earned) and struck out four.

Next up, the Mounties will host Victor Valley College (0-0) on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 12 p.m.
