Mountie Baseball blanked in concluding game of SCC series with Pasadena

(Pasadena, CA) After opening a three-game South Coast Conference series against Pasadena City College (16-9, 9-5) with a 7-0 win on March 23, Mt. San Antonio College (9-16, 2-9) dropped the next two games by the scores of 7-4 and 9-0 on Friday and Saturday, March 24 and 25, respectively.

On Friday, the Mounties trailed 5-2 through six and scored twice in the top of the seventh to pull within one, 5-4. The host Lancers pulled away with two more in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.

Top hitters for Mt. SAC included Travis Hobbensiefken (2-4, 2B), Elijah: Pelayo (2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI), and CJ Ontiveros (1-3, 2 RBI). Elias Gomez (1-1, R) also stole a base for the Mounties.

Starter Ray Northey (3-4) got the loss, throwing four innings, and allowing four runs (all earned), while striking out four.

On Saturday, Joey Rossetti (3-3) and Ontiveros (2-4, 2B) were the top batters for Mt. SAC.

Starting pitcher Alec Beck (1-3) suffered the loss, allowing four runs (all earned) in 1.1 innings.

On Monday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m. the Mounties will host Cerritos College (7-14, 3-7) in an SCC matchup that's been rained out twice. The contest will conclude a three-game series that started back on Feb. 21. The Falcons won the first game, 10-7, on Feb. 21, and Mt. SAC won the second, 5-0, on March 8.

On Tuesday, March 28, at 2:30 p.m. the Mounties will host Los Angeles Harbor College (8-20, 4-11) in the first of a three-game SCC series. Game 2 will take place on Thursday, March 30, at 2:30 p.m. in Wilmington, and Game 3 in Walnut on Saturday, April 1, at 12 p.m. (No foolin'!)
