(Walnut, CA) After starting the season 4-1 and then falling into a 10-game losing skid, the Mt. SAC Baseball team broke the streak and shutout host Santa Barbara, 6-0, Tuesday (March 7).

"It was a nice team effort by our pitching staff, led by Blake Hagerty who stepped up by throwing strikes and mixing pitches," Mt. SAC Baseball coach John Knott said. "We were led offensively by Travis Hobbensiefken and Damien Delgadillo and hopefully we can continue to make adjustments in the box and take advantage of the opportunities provided to us."

Mt. SAC (5-11) was led by Hobbensiefken (2 for 4, R, RBI) and Delgadillo (3 for 4, 2 R, RBI, SB) in the non-conference game.

The Mounties were led by five pitchers, led by starter Hagerty with three innings with a strikeout and allowing only one hit.

He was followed by four relievers, including freshman right-hander Ryan Silvers (2 H, 3 Ks), who picked up his first college win.

Freshman Jake Mitchell with two scoreless innings followed silvers and all six outs were strikeouts.

"It definitely felt good, especially coming off of my last outing," Mitchell said. "I really just threw a lot of fastballs and they just couldn't catch up to them."

After the 10 straight losses, the road win felt especially good for the team.

"The long bus ride home was great for all of us," Mitchell added.

Said Knott of Mitchell's six strikeouts in the sixth and seventh innings – "He did a great job and was very competitive around the zone," he said.

Sam Silversmith (3 Ks, 1 H) and Joey Peralta (1 K) pitched a scoreless eighth and ninth innings for the Mounties.

After scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, Mt. SAC put four more runs on the board in the seventh for the 6-0 lead.

Eight Mounties batted in the seventh, with designated hitters Gibby Morales and Delgadillo each singling in the first two runs of the inning.

A throwing error by the SBCC pitcher, allowed Delgadillo and Morales to score the third and fourth runs of the inning.
