
Torrance, Calif. – The Mt. SAC Women's Beach Volleyball Team emerged victorious in their first conference matchup of the season, defeating El Camino College 3-2 on Friday, February 28. With the win, the Mounties improve to 7-5, while the Warriors drop to 5-5.
The No. 1 pair, Candace Ceballos and Madeline Castillo, dominated their match against Aireon Scott and Perla Lopez, winning in straight sets, 21-11, 21-16. Meanwhile, the No. 2 duo, Itzel Aguayo and Freda Lei, battled through three sets but ultimately fell to Erica Griffiths and Zoe Lekan, 21-18, 21-16, 17-15.
Emma Carson and Eva Fisher secured a crucial victory at No. 3, cruising past Payton Garrison and Zariah Honeycutt in the first set, 21-9, before closing out a tighter second set, 22-20. At No. 4, Mayah Tiscareno and Eva Becerra fought through another three-set thriller, edging out Madelyn Hancock and Alyssa Estrada, 25-23, 21-16, 15-12.
In the final matchup, Kaylin Mendoza and Brooklyn Acevedo fell to Scheala Nielsen and Maddie Gloria, 21-8, 21-14.
NEXT UP:
The Mounties return home for a doubleheader on Friday, March 7, starting with a conference clash against Cerritos (8-4) at 10 AM, followed by a non-conference matchup against L.A. Harbor Club at 11 AM.
